I am Ayobami Akinrinade, popularly known as Balmbam — a faith-rooted sexual health educator, counselor, and social impact advocate. My journey into this work did not begin in a classroom.
It began with lived experience.
Growing up, I encountered sexual harm and exploitation at a very young age, followed by further violations in my teenage years. Like many children, I did not have the language, protection, or guidance needed to understand what was happening or how to seek help. My naivety made me vulnerable, and silence became normal.
As I grew older, I realized that many young people carry similar stories — not because they are careless, but because they were never taught, protected, or empowered. That realization became a turning point.
Driven by a desire to turn pain into purpose, I pursued professional training at Sexual Health Alliance, Lakewood, CO, USA., where I became a certified Sexuality Counselor. Today, my work sits at the intersection of education, healing, faith, and advocacy.
I now dedicate my life to helping young people:
I believe that education saves lives — quietly, consistently, and sustainably — and that faith and truth can coexist without harm.
Ayobami Akinrinade is a recognized certified sexuality counsellor, a faith-based comprehensive sex educator, and one of Nigeria’s most innovative voices reshaping how young people learn about their bodies, sexuality, and identity, through a spiritual and scientific lens.
She is the founder of Sexgelism, a pioneering platform bridging the gap between Christian values and comprehensive sex education, and the TAB (Teach A Boychild) Project, Nigeria’s leading initiative focused on equipping boys with age-appropriate knowledge on consent, puberty, and sexual health.
Over the last five years, Ayobami has taught thousands of students across Nigeria, trained educators, built multi-platform awareness campaigns, and consulted for NGOs and SRHR brands. She also served as Marketing Manager at Sussflow Reusables, where her strategic storytelling and viral campaigns have driven product sales and national awareness on menstrual health.
Ayobami is known for her clarity, compassion, and unflinching boldness. She is not just educating a generation — she is changing the way faith communities approach sex, shame, and wholeness.
Her work has earned her recognition as a speaker, curriculum developer, and advocate trusted by schools, organizations, and faith-based audiences.
Her mission is clear: to take this message to global platforms like TEDx, WHO, and the United Nations, and to raise a generation that is sexually aware, spiritually grounded, and emotionally whole.
